Quick facts:

  • I was born in Denver, Colorado a long, long, time ago.
  • My husband's name is John.  He was born an even longer time ago in Grand Rapids, MI.  He loves the Florida Orange Bird.
  • I have 4 kids.  Michaela (12 years old), Abigail (10 years old), Anneke (6 years old), and Ian (almost 6 years old.) Notice a pattern?
  • I love reading mystery books and fantasy books.
  • I ride Rocky Mountain Horses.  They are gaited horses, which means that they do not trot - making them very comfy to ride!
  • My favorite place to visit is Mackinac (pronounced Mack-in-naw) Island in Michigan.  There are no cars on the island; only people, bikes, and horses.

Over the course of the first few weeks, we will be getting to know each other better!  I promise that if you are assigned to tell the class something about yourself, I will do the same!

"We're all in this together" (go ahead, sing it if you need to....)

You may have noticed that there are a bunch of kites in our classroom.

Well, I have to admit that I love kites; not only because they are so much fun to fly, but also because they are a great metaphor for effort and success!  A kite does not begin flying high in the air.  It takes time and effort for it to find its place in the sky.

It is my sincerest hope that each one of my students learns the value of effort and that they gain a feeling of "flight" while learning and mastering new knowledge.

WE ARE GOING TO HAVE AN AWESOME YEAR!
