Current Studies:

 READING:

  • Readers workshop gives us a chance to focus on comprehension skills and to understand  author's purpose and focus.
  • Students will keep a reading log in class.
  • During our 90 minute Literacy Block we will be reading books at our independent level, keeping a reader's journal, setting goals to master reading skills, listening to read-alouds and mini-lessons, playing in Literacy Stations, and acting out Reader's Theatre.  It is a lot to cover, but it makes for an exciting reading block EVERYDAY!

WRITING:

  • Writer's Workshop -We will learn about and implement the writing process through pre-writing, peer-editing, revision, and publishing.

MATH:

  • Comparing and finding Equivalent Fractions

  • Harcourt GO MATH! and Student-Centered Mathematics will be used for instruction.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

  • We will focus on Civics, Government, and Map Studies the first month of school.
  • Highlights - virtual field trip across America and our Caribbean Celebration in the Spring!

SCIENCE:

  • My FAVORITE subject...We will begin with a review of the Scientific Process and then jump right into the study of Energy and Matter.
